I’m looking for volunteers to beta read the book I’m writing. You can probably guess what It’s about. Your input as new illustrators will be crucial in making sure the book is as useful and interesting as it can be.

The first draft of my book is now 95% complete and in need of your input.

What do I need?

This is an early, exploratory manuscript. it hasn’t seen an editor, or even a spellchecker. Those kinds of details will come much later, so please forgive the inevitable mistakes. What is important at this stage is very generally what you like and dislike and what you consider to be: Slow, confusing, useful, enjoyable, or otherwise. This will really help focus the direction of the book so it can be as useful as possible to illustrators.

How does it work?

You’ll receive a link to an online version of different sections of the book. The platform allows for very easy commenting. You highlight the text, click the appropriate button (Slow, confusing, useful, enjoyable, or otherwise) and add a comment. There’s no time limit, and no pressure to read it all. There is a guide on the chapters at the beginning so you can find what interests you most. All the comments I receive will be useful to me, and if none of you can make it to the end, then that’s especially useful for me to know!

You can read it on any device, but you’ll only be able to give feedback on a computer browser. All feedback will be anonymous by default, so you can be really honest 🙂

If you’d like to help me with this project,  you can email me here and I’ll send a link

The first draft is just the first step. I have a long way to go and I can’t do it without you. I’m looking forward to reading your feedback!
